Let’s talk about what it means to be a great learner. One very crucial factor is being able to connect the knowledge you may learn, for instance at schools, clubs, and so on, with the knowledge you receive from the outside world. ‘Home is where the heart is’ a very stereotypical expression, however, for some ‘home is where you park it’, or it could also be where your loved ones are, meanwhile for us great learners, home is where we can freely connect the knowledge we learn from different sources with one another. To express how much of a great learner, you may appear to be, I am hoping to home in on cases such as being able to connect knowledge we may earn from schools about nature, such as ‘how to plant seeds’, or ‘how to take care of a specific plant’, ‘how eco-friendly homes are better for the environment’ and so on, with the knowledge I gain from the outside world about these specific eco-friendly homes, and being a great learner, means being able to connect the knowledge learn form schools, about how great eco-friendly homes are, and now, being able to connect my knowledge, I realize that the lack of eco-friendly homes, is what we learn at schools, is the main factor of what would cause for instance pollution, plant starting to dry, and so on. Both cases result to the conclusion of the need to raise the number of eco-friendly houses. Although, who actually takes to consideration these useless and unnecessary homes? ‘What good does it do for me?’ is what one would say. Perhaps I should quit going around houses, and home in on the most important factor.
First of all, I would like to highlight that the information we may gain from schools is not relevant enough. Of course, I may be able to connect different knowledge, however, school information, in comparison with the information I gain from the outside world, various information are not relevant enough. Instead of reciting boring information on and on about how its good for the environment, protests being held, ‘less factories, more trees’, then I believe it is time for the big question to hop on in: ‘What good does it do for me?’. Regardless the news, which I suggest is not anything to write home about, you could decide to home in on your dream home. Logically speaking, I reckon you oughtn’t want to live somewhere in an enormous, dangerous, busy, non’ stop city, where instead of waking up to the sounds of birds chirping, followed by classical music, somewhere far away from people, on a small hill, you would wake up to the sounds of police chasing criminals, with barking canines, traffic pile ups, non-stop partying, and so on. Certainly, if you are a great learner you would choose the house far away from the city, which is automatically eco-friendly; however if you are not a great leaner, then you may continue hanging on a rope of hope in your question: ‘what good does it do for me?’ Personally, a dream home would be on a hill, far away from people, yet close enough to feel the connection of my close ones. When you put some smart thought into it, I would not prefer my house to be surrounded by bricks, and bricks, and more bricks. No. I would prefer wood, and even better long windows, where the sun may enter freely. Thus, cut out all of the irrelevant information about eco-friendly homes, such as ‘use sunlight in order to save more electricity’, ‘use rainwater’, ‘don’t waste water and toss it to the plants otherwise’. Forget this. I would preferably choose an eco-friendly home, due to the fact it really soothes you, and the connection you would feel amongst others, results of being surrounded by nature. I mean, this is the power and the use of Mother Nature, and being a great learner, I can easily connect what I learn at school with the news I hear, articles I thoroughly look through, et cetera. I can benefit from this knowledge, and in this case, to build and look after my own eco-friendly home. And maybe, after all these years of nature being taken care of, finding the precise way to look after it, just maybe, due to my small act, and on the strength of being a great learner, perhaps Mother Nature would feel proud of me for taking to consideration these small gestures. Moreover, all great learners would unite to such an idea, and the expression ‘one good deed at a time, leads to a great change’ would change its whole meaning, opposite to what is taught at schools. Yet again, if you are not a great learner enough to relate to these changes, you may make yourself at home, and continue protesting that there is whatsoever some meaning in your question: ‘what good would an eco-friendly home do for me?’
What has really been picking my brains, is that in London and Amsterdam, there had been an oddly funny connection. Now, many cities may have in common factors such as sharing a similar culture, heritage, language, although, London and Amsterdam have something else in common. Both cities were in lack of houses for citizens, which is odd for such prestigious cities. They told their citizens: ‘here is your land, proceed to self-build’. We live in the 21st century, where humanity is one of the most, yet undeveloped things, and here we stand between the war if the undeveloped and developed part of this century. At first, my reaction was doubting, putting thought to the fact on how upsetting it would be for the citizens, finding out they would need to build their house from scratch, but their reactions brought the houses down. For them, it was a way to express something unique, yet beautiful, and did not go by the moto chanted in union: ‘there is no use in self-building your purpose of shelter.’. Additionally, neighbors also worked together, on how they should design the common shared roads, which lead to them getting on like houses on fire. Speaking of houses on fire, let us hope that these houses do not catch on fire, otherwise, the non-great learner, hidden in the darkness of shadows, will be ready to say: ‘I told you so; there was no point in building your own house. Especially if is an eco-friendly house, because it has no good use for me’.
It would be a terrific idea to first of all be grateful. In today’s world homelessness is a tremendous problem, which conclusively leads to home truths, not only about the people of would for instance abduct their people from their apartments, but also home truths about the homeless themselves, who cause problems such as theft, or shoplifting, et cetera. What caught my mind, were the events make in honor of the homeless, where it’s main use, was to put out some people on the roads, so they could understand and feel the suffering of the homeless. However, events such as these, are harmful, regretful and disobedient towards the law, seemingly that it has to keep its citizens safe, and had clearly, terribly failed, in both cases, for not only letting their people live out on the road, but they also held these events which are most likely seen as social experiments, and the homeless may even feel bad. Their hopes would go from down, to high, to low again, considering that they may have thought someone would take action and put an end to homelessness as a worldwide problem, and yet, no one did. Afterwards, this would be shown to publicity, just to make people think: ‘what a civilized place’, and ‘homelessness in now permantly solved’ stating on the fact as if a problem such as this would solve itself. So, I would say, that events like these are not home and dry.
To sum up, I would like to highlight the fact that: I am a great learner, so that means I can easily connect the knowledge I need to know and learn from school, and so on, with the outside world, and, as a result, I reckon that many news, and articles about eco-friendly homes, and homelessness, and all the nonsense that follows this, transports complete irrelevant information. So, instead of going around houses, and keep on saying that you do not receive anything from nice gestures, drop the act. Be a great learner, connect knowledge from different platforms and topics with one another, raise your curiosity as being a great learner, and be the change, great learners who are willing to change the world. A individuals we may not have such power to do so, but as great learners we have the power to do anything we desire. One small step for humankind, one giant leap for us great learners.
